2007 Philippines Mission Trip Coming to Jesus Wendi ministers When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." Mark 16:15-18 Jesus Christ At that time Jesus said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Matthew 11:25 Jesus Christ And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:3 Jesus Christ Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14 Jesus Christ Pastor Hanging with the People They went out and preached that people should repent. They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them. Matthew 6:12,13 Jesus Christ Christianity was first brought to Asia at the City of Cebu by Magellan.  Cebu is the second largest city in the Philippines.  In over 20 years of ministry this was the first time that we attempted to have our healing meetings in a big city.  The mayor, many pastors, and at least one evangelist said that these kinds of meeting would not work, no one would come, and that no one had even tried these kinds of meetings in at least five years.  Fortunately, God had a better plan for Cebu.  So he replied to the messengers, "Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor. Luke 7:22 Director Jill Boyanas Here is a report from Jill Boyanas our Philippine director:  "The result in Cebu amazes me as well as the local Pastors. For many years I have avoided Cebu because everyone was saying the area is  hard ground as the people in this place is deeply religious. The local Pastors are also amazed at what they saw. They have been holding evangelistic crusades in the past and their experience was that people come to hear the music of the band or watch some drama. After the band plays and when the  preacher starts to preach people go home. When the altar call is made very few are left and of those who stay only a few  come forward for salvation. And they are amazed at what happened in our crusade. People stay until the end of our program and an average of 80% of those in attendance come forward when the invitation for salvation is made. Plus night after night they see people being healed. Blind eyes see, goiters disappeared, asthma, arthritis and many other sickness were healed. A lady with cervical cancer was also healed. This has changed the mindset of many Pastors and everyone is now eager to follow through with the bible studies that we have started during the crusade." Walking the Neigborhood Missionary team members learn enough of the local dialect, Cebuano, to walk from house to house in the afternoons meeting local people and inviting them to the evening meetings.  Doing this shows respect to the local people and becomes one of the most rewarding parts of the trip for many.  Giving Testimonies River Rock mission trips are "hands on" trips for those desiring to really walk like the early disciples did.  Each River Rock missionary lays hands on the sick, preaches in a church on Sunday morning, gives their testimony on stage, invites locals to come to the meetings, and generally lives a life like the early church.  Many people comment to me that they feel just like they are in the Bible. They overcame him       by the blood of the Lamb       and by the word of their testimony;    they did not love their lives so much       as to shrink from death. Revelation 12:11   Sharing the Love We call it "flat tire evangelism" because our first year in the Philippines we had a flat tire on the island of Pilar.  While the driver and his helpers were fixing the tire our team lead quite a few people to Jesus including a whole gambling house full of men who were drinking and gambling.  On this trip we were taking a very small boat out to a very small island when we ran out of gas.  Fortunately we were close enough to this little island to "pole" our way in.  When we got there Wendi used the Evangacube to lead 38 people to Jesus! Bringing the Love Wendi and I want to thank all of you, the missionaries who go, and those of you who stay at home and pray for us and support us financially.  Without each part of the River Rock missionary team thousands of people would not be touched with the love and healing power of Jesus Christ and receive the free gift of eternal life.  If each one of the thousands of people that are touched could thank you personally they would.  This year we ministered to over 9,000 people, over 6,000 made a commitment to make Jesus Lord of their lives and close to 2,500 reported healings in their bodies.  Wherever we go to minister there are local pastors ready to minister to those who choose Jesus.  This year over 80 Bible studies were started.  many of these will end up being churches.  Thank you again for all  that you have done.
