Battles for a Better You

Welcome to my blog.

I want to talk to you today about life’s battles and God’s role in bringing us through them with a character that reflects His nature.

The bible is full of battles both physical and spiritual. All the way from the beginning of time as recorded in Genesis to the end of this age as we know it, reflecting in the book of Revelation, you will read of battles, battles and then more battles. There are battles for gaining territory, preserving and vindicating family, expressing and maintaining religion and fulfilling destiny. In the old testament, these battles were mostly led by God with the purpose to rid the world of unrighteousness and bring His justice and plan for mankind in right alignment with heaven.

In the new testament, we see that most of the battles that are mentioned are internal struggles with situations in life that are notorious for bringing us discomfort, fear, and doubt. Some of the harshest battles that we encounter are relational in nature. Those we love misunderstand our intentions. Those who have promised to never hurt us, who we’ve trusted with our inner secrets, hopes and dreams have been instruments in launching us into emotional turmoils that take every bit of our energy to wake up and face another day.

Awe yes, then there are those who hate us for no reason, just because we are different from them, believe differently than they do or are jealous of our success and happy for our failures. Sound familiar? Know anyone like this?

Regardless of the nature of our battle, be it relational or situational, we are commanded by Jesus to “walk in the Spirit” and “love one another”. If that’s not hard enough, He also says to “love your enemies, bless those who curse you and pray for those who persecute you”. Still, the battles go on, and on, and on and on.

I created this blog to talk more about these battles that we all go through. I’d like to share with you experiences and how God has used these difficulties in my life to mold me and bring me closer to Him. I have a passion to become more like Jesus and my mission in life is to understand, apply and manifest the “fruit of the Spirit” as taught in Galatians 5:22-23.

I hope that you come back and follow me in this journey of learning and growing.  Together we can present to Him a basket full of yummy – ness in the form of Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness and Self Control, as He is allowed to be Himself through us even in our most difficult times.

In the mean time, rejoice in the next 24 hours that God has given you. Continue to talk to Him throughout this day and most of all, don’t forget to breathe! Oh, yea and as you exhale…give Him Praise!
